Coassemble AI agent
What the Coassemble AI agent does: builds a course from a prompt or a file, changes it when you ask, reviews it for problems, and shows you where learners get stuck.
The Coassemble AI agent builds and edits courses through a conversation. Describe what you want or upload a file, answer a few questions about your audience and outcomes, and it builds a complete course of screens made from blocks. The agent then stays with you in the builder, so you can ask for changes in plain language at any point.
The agent is in public beta. It's stable and ready for real work, and it keeps improving while you use it.
What can it build a course from?
- A written brief. Describe the course in your own words, the same way you'd explain it to a colleague.
- A document. Word, PowerPoint, Keynote or PDF.
- A SCORM package. Upload a package from Articulate Rise or Storyline, Adobe Captivate or iSpring, and the agent converts it into an editable Coassemble course.
- A file from Google Drive or OneDrive.
You can upload more than one document, and you can combine a file with a prompt: add the document, then a line or two about what you want, and the agent uses both.
What does it ask before it builds?
The agent asks about the decisions that shape a course: your target audience and how familiar they already are with the topic, the depth of content, the learning outcomes, the tone, the assessment you want (knowledge checks, a final quiz, flashcards, or none at all), and the language the course is written in.
You won't always get every question. The agent skips anything it can work out from your material, checks your answers make sense before it starts building, and keeps each answer visible with an edit option so you can change one without starting again. Before it builds, it summarises every choice in one place.
When you upload a single document or a SCORM package, it also asks how closely the course should follow your source material:

This question doesn't appear if you start from a prompt alone, or if you upload more than one document, because the agent has to combine several sources.
What happens while it builds?
The agent maps out the outline first, then builds the screens in real time in front of you. Once the plan lands, the full course outline appears with the real title of every planned screen, so you can see the shape of the course well before it finishes. Where it generates images, the builder marks which screen it's illustrating as it goes.
If you move around inside Coassemble the build carries on without you. If you close the tab, it picks up where it left off when you next open the course.
Where is the agent in the builder?
The agent button in the bottom right corner of the builder opens the agent panel, which has three tabs:
- Chat. Where you type what you want. Start here for anything that affects more than one screen. The Suggestions button in the chat box lists common requests as ready-made prompts, grouped under Create, Edit, Refine, Organise and Navigate.
- Review. Checks the course you've built and lists what to fix.
- Insights. Reads your learner data once people have been through the course.
You can also reach the agent without opening the panel:
- Refine buttons on a block's toolbar act on that block alone. Select a paragraph, ask for it shorter, and only that paragraph changes.
- Selecting text inside a block switches the block toolbar to a refining toolbar while you work.
What can I ask it to do once the course exists?
- Write and rewrite. Add a screen on a topic you missed, shorten a screen that runs long, change the tone, or drop the reading level for a different audience.
- Add assessment. Insert a knowledge check, generate a scored quiz from the course content, or give it your own questions and answers to use.
- Restructure. Reorder screens, split a section, reshape the course into different sections, or remove screens you no longer need.
- Generate images. Ask for an image and it's generated from your description, taking the topic of the course into account.
- Place your own images. If your images are tagged in your workspace asset library, ask for images with a particular tag and the agent places them, using the alt text your team wrote on each asset. If nothing in your library matches the tag, it tells you and stops.
- Add narration. Generate an AI voiceover from your screen content, which brings its own closed captions with it.
- Translate the course. Add a language and the agent generates the translation for you to edit.
- Apply your branding. Change the theme, apply your brand voice so generated content sounds like you, and set the look of the course without leaving the conversation.
- Navigate. Ask it to take you to a particular screen, which is useful in a long course when you know what a screen is about but not where it sits.
Does it review the course for me?
Yes, in the Review tab of the agent panel. It gives you specific suggestions across accessibility, learning design, clarity, engagement and content integrity. Each suggestion names the problem, the screen it's on and why it matters, and most carry a one-click fix the agent applies for you. There's no score and no grade.
You may see this review called Course Coach. That's the name for what the Review tab does, so the two mean the same thing.
It combines mechanical checks with a read of the whole course. The mechanical checks catch things like images with no alt text, an empty placeholder block, a quiz question with no correct answer marked, and a reading level well above the audience you set. The whole-course read catches what no single screen reveals, such as a question that assesses something the course never teaches, or a concept used before it's introduced.
Does it show me how learners are doing?
Yes. The Insights tab in the agent panel reads your learner data and surfaces things like a screen where a large share of learners stall, a text-heavy screen people move past too fast to have read, a question most learners get wrong on their first attempt, and low completion across the course.
You can narrow it to a date range, so a recent cohort can be compared against an earlier one rather than everything being averaged together. Nothing appears until a few learners have been through the course.
Because Insights sits in the builder, the conversation that finds a weak screen can also rewrite it.
Is the agent available on my plan?
The agent panel and all three of its tabs, Chat, Review and Insights, are available on all current plans. They are not available on the legacy Flow and Hub plans.
Where the agent isn't available, the agent button, the refine buttons on block toolbars and the quiz generation shortcut are disabled, and a tooltip tells you agent access isn't available on your plan. Everything else in the builder works normally, so you can still build and edit courses by hand.
Frequently asked questions
Can I still build courses myself?
Yes. Every screen is editable directly. Add blocks, move them, rewrite the text and change the styling yourself, and never open the agent if you'd rather not.
What is Course Coach?
Course Coach is the name for the course review in the agent panel. In the builder you'll find it as the Review tab.
Does it work in my language?
Yes, in eleven: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish. Write to the agent in French and the whole conversation happens in French, including its questions and its summary of what it did. This is separate from the language your course is written in, so you can work in your own language on a course written in another.
What if it gets something wrong?
Tell it. The agent stays with you in the builder after the build finishes, so a course that came out longer than you wanted, or pitched at the wrong level, is a conversation away from being fixed.
