Logging in with Microsoft

How Microsoft login works in Coassemble, which Microsoft account it uses, and why it isn't the same as Microsoft Enterprise SSO.

Yes. Coassemble has Log in with Microsoft on the sign-in screen, so you can use your Microsoft account instead of a Coassemble password. It's a social login, not Microsoft Enterprise SSO.

How to use it

  1. Go to coassemble.com/signin.
  2. Select I'm a returning user.
  3. Select Log in with Microsoft and sign in with your Microsoft account.

Use it if your Coassemble account was created with Microsoft. If you signed up with an email address and password, or with Google or Slack, use that method instead.

Which Microsoft account it uses

Use the work Microsoft account attached to your Coassemble account. Coassemble accounts are created from a work email address, because the sign-up form asks for your work details including a job title and doesn't accept free email domains. So while Microsoft itself will let you sign in with a personal account, that account won't be attached to a Coassemble workspace and you'll be told there's no account for it.

How this differs from Microsoft Enterprise SSO

  • Log in with Microsoft (social login). You use an existing Microsoft account to sign in rather than creating another password. You choose it yourself, per account, on the sign-in screen. Coassemble has this.
  • Microsoft Enterprise SSO (SAML or OIDC). Configured by an IT department and centrally controlled, so employees are signed in to business applications automatically once they're signed in to their company computer, with access managed from the identity provider. Coassemble does not offer Microsoft Enterprise SSO.

If your IT or security team is asking about SSO in a review, that difference is the answer they need: authentication is per user through Microsoft's consent flow, not provisioned or de-provisioned centrally.

Frequently asked questions

I signed up with an email and password. Can I switch to Microsoft login?

Contact our team and we can look at your account. Selecting Log in with Microsoft on an account created another way won't recognise you on its own.

Does logging in with Microsoft give Coassemble access to my Microsoft data?

No. It confirms who you are with Microsoft so you can sign in. It doesn't connect your mailbox, files or calendar to Coassemble.

No. Learners taking a course from a link don't sign in to Coassemble at all. This applies to people who build and manage courses.
