Where Coassemble's stock photography comes from, how to add an image, and the other ways to get a picture onto a screen.
Yes. A stock photography library powered by Pexels is built into the editor, so you can search royalty-free photos and drop one straight into a screen without leaving Coassemble. The images are licensed for use in your courses.
Add a stock photo
When you add or replace an image, search the stock library from within the image picker, then select the photo you want and it's inserted directly into the screen. There's nothing to download or upload.
In the new builder, images live in an Image block. Once the picture is in, you can reposition it inside the block: drag to choose which part shows and zoom in up to 3x, with the rest of the image shown faded so you can see what sits outside the frame.
The other ways to get an image onto a screen
Stock photography is one of four:
- Your image library, holding images already used in your workspace.
- Upload your own file.
- Generate one with AI from a description. Each generation gives you four options to choose from.
- From a URL, if the image lives somewhere else.

Do I need a separate account to use stock photography?
No. It's built into the editor.
Are the images free to use?
Yes. The built-in library is royalty-free photography, and images added through Coassemble are licensed for use in your courses.
Do I have to download and upload images?
No. You search the library in the editor and the image is inserted straight into the screen.
Can I add alt text?
Yes, and you should. Alt text is what a screen reader announces in place of the image, and it's part of meeting WCAG 2.2 Level AA. You can also add an optional caption underneath.
